Are reverse osmosis water filters better suited to city water or well water?

I live in the city and have been thinking about moving to a smaller town. To purify my city water, I recently purchased a reverse osmosis filter. I'm going to a location with mostly well water, but I still want to use my water filter. I'd like to know if I can use it in both scenarios.
