Does pH level affect water taste?

Asked a year ago

My sister recently had her tap water tested because it had a really unusual taste. Test results found that it didn't contain any harmful trace elements. She's now suggesting we do a pH test. I'm not sure how pH levels work and if this could be affecting the taste of the water.

Yes, pH levels can have a big impact on how water tastes. Typically, water has a neutral pH of 7. If the pH level is too low (below 7), the water could taste metallic or sour. If the pH is too high (above 7), the water could have a baking soda taste.
