Can I avoid heat stroke if I stay hydrated during competitions?

Asked 4 months ago

I started jogging 4 months ago as something new that I wanted to challenge myself with, and I ended up enjoying it more than I thought. I’m thinking I should actually start partaking in marathons and other competitions. I need to know the risks that come with dehydration and the potential consequences of being in different environments and how I can prevent them.

Yes. One of the key aspects of avoiding heat stroke when doing intense training is to stay well hydrated. The general rule is to double your water intake on very hot days. One of the other important ways to reduce the risk of heat stroke is by covering up with light and protective clothing and a hat.
