Does water filtration retain the essential minerals in water?
Asked 2 years ago
My dad wants to install a water filtration system. I’m all for making sure we’re drinking clean and purified water, but I also know that water has minerals that our bodies need. I don’t want the minerals to be filtered out.

It depends on what kind of water filtration system you are using. Some water filters remove healthy minerals, others remove only contaminants. Activated carbon and ceramic filters don’t remove essential minerals from tap water. That's because the healthy minerals are not attracted to carbon. Reverse Osmosis (RO) removes everything, including the healthy minerals.
