Does filtered water remain hard?
Asked 2 years ago
I only just recently learnt that having thick residues of soap on your skin and hair after a shower means that your water is hard. I want to filter the water as a means to treat it, but I’m not sure if that's a great idea. If I filter hard water, will it still remain hard?

High levels of calcium and magnesium are the two main culprits for hard water. Your best option for filtering hard water is a water softener, which focuses on only removing these hard minerals. Other filters like reverse osmosis technically soften the water, but they also remove all other essential minerals in the process. Carbon filters won't remove any of the minerals.
