Does reverse osmosis eliminate all hard minerals from drinking water?

Asked 2 years ago

I recently moved out of the city, and the water from my local well is quite hard. I feel it when I wash my hands, and it does not mix well with detergents when I do my dishes. I want to use a reverse osmosis system to improve the quality of my household water. Is it ideal for me?

Reverse osmosis systems are highly efficient at removing most contaminants from water, including the minerals that cause hard water. Calcium and magnesium are the two main minerals responsible for making water hard. A reverse osmosis system will successfully remove these, resulting in softer water. But remember that it will also remove all other essential minerals.
