Will using a tankless under-sink RO system result in less waste water?
Asked 2 years ago
I live in a city apartment with questionable water quality. For better water, my partner suggested we get a reverse osmosis filter. However, I'm still deciding which one to purchase; I like the idea of having stored filtered water, but a tankless system could do. I'm curious to know if a tankless system generates less wastewater.

Older tankless systems, and tank systems generally, do lose water to drainage. On the other hand, a reverse osmosis tankless system generates less wastewater because much more of the processed water is usable. The newly developed systems retain most of the purified water, in a ratio of 2:1, for purified vs wastewater.
