As an athlete if I keep hydrated will I regulate my body temp better?
Asked 2 years ago
I’m thinking of joining the local football team this year. I haven’t played in two years. I want to make sure I’m at my peak performance and I’m aware of the ways to enhance my fitness levels. I know hydration is essential when you’re physically active, but does it help with regulating body heat during a vigorous game?

Staying hydrated is crucial to maintaining your body temperature. When you're physically active, your body loses water through sweat. Your sweat is intended to keep your body cool, but you will overheat, and your body temperature will rise if you don't replace the water you lose. That's because your body loses electrolytes and plasma when you get dehydrated.
