Is it safe for pets to drink filtered soft water?
Asked 2 years ago
My landlord told me that my building is switching to filtered soft water for drinking, washing, and cooking. I’m a bit worried about my dog drinking soft water considering that it might have some harmful amounts of sodium.

Generally speaking, if the water is good enough for you to drink, it is good enough for your pet. The exception is distilled water, which contains no electrolytes to replenish those lost during perspiration. The trace amount of sodium found in soft water will not harm your pet unless they are on a restricted or sodium-free diet.
