How does plastic affect drinking water quality?
Asked 2 years ago
I am aware that sometimes in our drinking water supply, little contaminant particles make their way no matter how much it's been purified. This has raised some concerns for me regarding our drinking and washing water and how this might have potentially harmful effects for us. The main concern is how plastic may be negatively impacting our water quality.

The issue with microplastics is that they can block the gastrointestinal tracts of organisms that consume the water. Plastics also leach harmful chemicals into the water, which degrade water quality and harm human and animal health. Besides the leaching chemicals, toxic compounds also stick to the surface of the plastic and expose humans and animals to high concentrations of toxins when ingested.
