Why You Need to Drink Water After Yoga
Drinking water after a yoga session is not only good for you but highly recommended. Here are some of the reasons why:
- Thirst can be mistaken for hunger. Because of this common misunderstanding with their body, some individuals often gain weight after working out rather than the other way around—properly hydrating after your yoga session can stop you from making this mistake.
- Visiting the yoga studio dehydrates the body. Have you ever walked into a gym or a yoga studio and instantly felt the humidity? In such an environment, your body starts sweating even before your workout, making you lose more body fluids. Drinking water after yoga will help you make up for any fluids lost this way.
- Water boosts muscle energy. Your muscles will probably feel sore after a yoga session, and water will help them recover faster. If your body is dehydrated, your muscles will be deprived of electrolytes and start cramping, which water can prevent by helping form the structures of protein and glycogen.
- Healthy kidneys need lots of water. In addition to delivering essential nutrients to your kidneys, water helps the kidneys remove the waste from your blood through urine, helping you maintain your body's overall health.
