Does ion exchange filtration remove bacteria from water?
Asked 25 days ago
I am particularly concerned about ingesting bacteria from the unfiltered water in my new house. Does ion exchange filtration remove bacteria from water?

No, ion exchange doesn't rid water of bacteria or pyrogens even though it is one of the most common water filtration methods. The ion exchange process is used for water softening, and it removes heavy metals, nitrates, arsenic, perchlorate, hexavalent-chrome, and other chemicals from municipal water feeds.
