Does dark colored urine indicate that I am extremely dehydrated?
Asked 2 years ago
I’m on the boys' wrestling team for my college, and I have been wrestling since high school. This is my first year of college, and things are a bit different here. Our coach suggested we decrease the amount of water we drink and make sure we sweat enough so we can make weight for the upcoming competition. I noticed that my urine has gotten a bit darker since I started limiting my water intake.

Yes. One of the most common reasons for dark urine is dehydration. Drinking water dilutes the yellow pigments in urine so when you drink less water, the color becomes more concentrated. Always ensure you are properly hydrated, though. Water is essential to every part of the body and its functioning, so dehydration can be dangerous.
