Can bacteria grow inside an under-sink RO filter...

Can bacteria grow inside an under-sink RO filter storage tank over time?

Asked 4 years ago

I want to get a new water filtration system for my home. My local plumber suggested we try a reverse osmosis filter for the purest water. I want a filter system with a storage tank because of the low costs, but I'm worried that algae and bacteria will grow over time. Should I be concerned?

Just like with any water filter, if you don't maintain or clean your reverse osmosis system periodically, there is a chance that bacteria will accumulate and algae will grow. It is recommended to flush and sanitize your tank and system at least once a year and keep up with replacing the filters.
