Is there a difference between a reverse osmosis filter and a carbon filter?
Asked 2 years ago
I'm looking for a better water filter for my home. I've been researching the best systems, but I can't seem to find any clear differences between them. I discovered that reverse osmosis and carbon filters produce some of the best results. Are they the same thing?

Both carbon filters and reverse osmosis systems are good filter choices. However, there are some differences. RO is comprised of a semi-permeable membrane, while carbon filtration uses a solid block of compressed carbon. Carbon filters excel at removing the taste and smell of chlorine and capturing large particles. However, reverse osmosis is definitely more efficient overall and removes almost anything from the water.
