What salt can I use to re-mineralize water?

Asked 2 years ago

I want to re-mineralize the drinking water in my home since it’s filtered through the reverse osmosis method. I asked around on social media and I got multiple ways of re-mineralizing water. The use of natural salt was the most shocking, but apparently more cost-effective. I’m just not sure if using Himalayan salt or regular table salt is best.

One way to remineralize water is by using Himalayan pink salt to it. Himalayan salt is better than normal table salt because it contains an extensive mineral profile of 84 trace minerals. Some of these minerals include calcium, potassium, and magnesium, which all help to neutralize the pH in reverse osmosis water.

If you use salt, it's important to use Himalayan salt, which contains many of the essential minerals. While adding this salt to your water will remineralize it slightly, the minerals will be in very trace amounts, and adding more salt will lead to unpleasant-tasting water. Mineral drops contain higher levels of essential minerals without an odd taste.
