What is the best maternal diet for postpartum?
Asked 13 days ago
I just had my baby, and I'm now breastfeeding. I know that what I eat is important for both my own recovery and for my milk supply. I'm looking for guidance on what a healthy postpartum diet looks like. Are there any specific foods I should be focusing on, or any I should avoid?

Here's my two cents: First off, don't stress too much. Your body's a champ and will make milk even if you're not eating perfectly. But yeah, eating well definitely helps!
Foods that were my BFFs:
- Oatmeal - seriously, it's like magic for milk supply
- Tons of fruits and veggies - gotta get those vitamins!
- Protein, protein, protein - I was always hungry, and this helped
- Nuts and seeds - easy to munch on while nursing
- Water - I swear I turned into a camel 🐪
And here are some I avoided:
- Too much caffeine - my little one was jittery enough!
- Alcohol - I know some moms do the "pump and dump," but I just didn't bother
- Spicy foods - gave my baby gas (but your mileage may vary)
Things I avoided:Pro tip: Prep some healthy snacks you can eat with one hand. Trust me, you'll thank yourself later!
