Should I be concerned that drinking RO water will cause mineral deficiency?

Asked a year ago

My husband wants us to get a reverse osmosis filter for our new apartment. I've been researching the filtration system, which is exactly what we'll need since we'll be drawing water from our private reservoir. I'm concerned that the system will leach nutrients from my body because it is so effective at removing impurities. Should I be worried?

Reverse osmosis does remove all the essential minerals from water. Because RO water contains no minerals, drinking it for a prolonged period of time can leach minerals from your body, causing deficiencies and other health issues. It's best to remineralize your water with mineral drops.
