Should I be concerned if I find sediment in my tap water?

Asked 2 years ago

Hi, I live in Miami and found sediment in our tap water. I'm unsure if this is okay or if I should be phoning the city council to tell them. I would not have known if I didn't happen to leave my glass of water standing on my kitchen counter for about 30min. When I came back, there was this fine layer of what looked like sand on the bottom.

The sediment in your tap water could be caused by corroding metal pipes or the filtration water systems not doing their job. Typically, organic sediment poses no health threat to humans, but it is still unpleasant. You could try contacting the council and getting yourself a home filter for your faucet.
