Do reverse osmosis filters make any noise when filtering water?

Asked a year ago

We recently moved, and I've noticed a strange taste in our tap water. My husband wishes that we install a reverse osmosis filter in our kitchen. I like how quiet the new house is, but I'm concerned that the filter will make loud noises when filtering, particularly at night.

Reverse osmosis systems do make some slight noise when they process the water, but it is more of a soft humming sound that eventually becomes background noise you won't even notice. A slight gurgling noise is also normal from the sink or drain, which is reject process water flowing down the drain.
