How does the pH of drinking water affect our digestive system?

Asked a year ago

I just got diagnosed with IBS and I am cutting all triggering foods and drinks out. I was just wondering if the pH levels of drinking water has any affect on digestive systems? Could it trigger an IBS flare?

The pH of water can affect the digestive system, as it plays a crucial role in the body's acid-base balance. Digestive enzymes in the stomach and small intestine work optimally at specific pH levels, and any changes in the pH level can affect their effectiveness. The pH level of the water can also affect the gut microbiome and bacterial balance.
