What is healthy water supposed to smell like?
What is healthy water supposed to smell like?
Asked 8 months ago
We sometimes go up to our mountain cabin in the summer, and I’ve noticed that the water smells different than the water at home. If it has an unfamiliar smell, could it be the natural state of the water, or is it possible that it is contaminated and not safe to drink? Is there a specific smell for healthy water?

When it comes to drinking water from taps, there may be different smells due to various factors. The most common cause of water that smells different is the addition of chlorine or bacteria growing in the pipes or drain, which results in a musty, earth, fishy, or grassy odor. But don't worry, a different smell in your water doesn't mean it's unhealthy.
